The art of productive living is a skill that most of us can learn and master.
There are countless habits that boost our efficiency and get more things done in less time.
Whether you want to beat procrastination or do home chores and routine more timely, you’ll need to take control of the way you think and act.
In this article, I hope to share with you the 14 habits that have helped get me on my feet as I have come to love it.
Let us see the list below:
1. Have A Morning Routine.
I know, this sounds like a very old-fashioned and boring habit.
However, it’s still extremely effective for me and a whole lot out there.
My habits start as soon as I’m awake in the morning and this is what it is supposed to be.
I go to the bathroom, get dressed, have a cup of coffee, and then get my workday started. All of this has become a habit.
My morning routine has become one of the most important things I do to feel good and be productive.
2. Put Your Phone On Airplane Mode.
For the most part, I don’t listen to music during the day.
This is what helps me with my morning routine. During the day, my attention is divided between my work, family, and friends.
Music gets in the way of this task. If you’re like me, turn off the music and put your phone in airplane mode.
3. Keep An Attitude Of Gratitude.
I’m not saying, “Let go of your negativity.” You still need to be positive.
But being grateful for what you have in life will make a huge impact on your day. The act of thinking about what you’re grateful for is enough to shift your mood.
4. Eat A Healthy Breakfast.
I eat a bowl of oatmeal every morning before I leave for work.
I know people who eat eggs, bacon, cereal, and toast.
But I think breakfast is the best way to start my day. I know that it’s only six to eight hours later, but my body doesn’t start to digest my food until it’s at least a few hours later.
When I eat breakfast, I feel like I can tackle my workday better than I would if I don’t eat breakfast.
My body just doesn’t feel like it’s starving in the morning.
Also, if I start my day off with a healthy meal, it just makes everything seem better.
I eat a bowl of oatmeal and then I feel like it’s just a normal day, even when my day isn’t.
5. Exercise.
I’ve found that the benefits of exercise are huge, even if it’s just taking 30 minutes out of your day.
Even 15 minutes can make a big difference in how you’re feeling and how you’re treating yourself.
Sometimes, I go for a bike ride instead of going to work.
The bike ride is a wonderful break from work for me. I just enjoy the scenery and get exercise while I’m out of the office.
When I’m finished with my ride, I feel like I can face the rest of the day with a lot more confidence.
6. Wake Up 15 Minutes Earlier.
This helps me because I have to get up at 6:30. I like to get up early in the morning so I can meditate, do my morning routine, and then have a nice, calm morning.
I’ll get into my routine, and once I’ve completed them, it’s time to get ready for work.
This routine gets my day off to a great start. I’m just finished when I get to work.
7. Be Organized.
I’m a big believer that people who are organized are happier.
I don’t get frustrated at work when I have too many things on my plate.
I like knowing that I have the things I need. I’ll start to organize things like, “I’ll put the work I’m going to work on the left,” or “I’ll put the work I’m going to work on the right.”
If I need to work on two projects at the same time, I can do that because I know that I can find the things I need. My life is organized. When you are organized you tend to increase productivity as you effectively manage time.
8. Write At Least Every Day.
This is one of the habits that I’m always trying to create. I’m still learning this. I’ve written several times a day, but I feel like I need to write more.
My goal is to write at least every other day. If I can do this, I’ll feel like I’m getting something meaningful and purposeful out of my day.
9. Eat At Least Three Meals A Day.
I have a lot of friends who don’t eat breakfast.
I’m not talking about skipping breakfast, but I’m talking about skipping lunch or dinner.
I want to make sure that I’m eating three meals a day.
I think it’s healthy and it helps with my metabolism. I don’t want to eat less than that.
10. Workout At Least Once A Week.
I think most people don’t do this. I don’t mean “go to the gym.” I mean that you should be working out to stay in shape.
I find that when I work out, it makes me want to work out more.
I like it. I think that my body feels like it’s in good shape because of it.
11. Workout Alone.
I usually don’t go to the gym because it’s a time commitment for me.
When I’m working out at home, I make the most of it.
If I’m doing curls, I get excited.
When I’m doing cardio, I make sure I enjoy the scenery. This is different than when I go to the gym and I’m working out with someone else. I don’t like that.
12. Be on Time.
I think the most important thing is being on time.
When you’re late, you’re just letting your boss and your customers down.
Even if you’re not late, I think you should still be on time.
Your life should have a structure. Being productive also means you are able to use time well,
I think that you should be out of your bed before 9 a.m. You need to be awake before that time.
I usually will leave my house at 8:30 or 8:45 a.m. If you don’t have a morning routine that gets you to work on time, try it out.
Try to be a little early. If you’re late, you’re just letting yourself down. I’ve learned this lesson very hard.
13. Do What You Love
Even do I have to perform my duties as scheduled, I still have to balance life by doing those things I cherish.
This is because, we all work hard, and it’s not always easy to be diligent and do what we love to do.
But here’s the thing: we’re only going to get so far doing what we don’t like.
We have to learn to identify what we love to do, and we’ll probably have to do that at times for work.
But we can’t do this while we’re busy working and taking care of the rest of our life.
You have to get away from your work or else your work won’t be as meaningful as it could be.
When you do this, you’ll be happier and your work will get better. These are my approach to things that work well for me.
14. Get Enough Sleep
We’re not all built the same. The way our body and mind operate and perform is not the same. We all have different sleeping patterns.
I ensure to have adequate sleep that is suitable for my body rest.
Sleeping is necessary for all of us to function properly.
Many people go to bed and then never wake up in the morning, and then they start to feel a bit worse, rather than better.
On the other hand, others have a morning routine where they get up and go to bed at the same time every day.
Others will only sleep for four hours in the middle of the night and then sleep for eight hours in the early morning.
When you sleep, your brain and body rest and repair themselves.
As you rest, your brain becomes more alert, and ready to think and make decisions.
The problem is that most of us do not sleep enough.
And it’s time to do something about it. I don’t mismanage my sleep time, instead, I make proper use it.
